Wroclaw continues its impressive growth trajectory and is considered one of Central Europe’s most dynamic investment locations. According to the latest BEAS survey, the city ranked second, with a score of 7.9/10, in the ranking of investment potential of Polish cities. It is known for its business-friendly approach: many renowned Polish companies have been established here, and foreign investors have recognized Wroclaw as one of the best locations in Europe.
The next, fourth edition of the Business Environment Assessment Study (BEAS) report, authored by Antal and Cushman & Wakefield and partnered by Baker McKenzie, PAIH, Employers of Poland, Pro Progressio and Vastint, reveals the investment plans of the heads of companies operating in Polish cities for 2023-2025. Poland has long maintained and strengthened its leading position in attracting investment, including foreign investment.
Students will choose Wroclaw
Wroclaw is a strong academic centre, educating around 105,000 students annually. It is represented, among others, by the Wroclaw University of Technology, the leading technical university in Poland. The average assessment of the educational potential for the city was as high as 7.9/10 in the 4th edition of the BEAS survey – the highest rating for educational potential compared to all other surveyed cities. Thanks to its intellectual background, state-of-the-art laboratories, and advanced technological infrastructure, the city is the most popular location in the country for R&D and Knowledge Process Outsourcing centres.
This year’s university candidates in Wroclaw had a wide range of opportunities to apply for first-degree studies in 202 full-time and 84 part-time majors. Nine public universities, 15 non-public universities, and two church universities made offers, comments Katarzyna Slawinska, Antal Team Manager, Engineering & Operations.
Wroclaw attracts talent not only from the IT sector
There is plenty of talent in Wroclaw, especially in the IT, engineering, and modern business services sectors, which further increases its investment attractiveness. According to the Antal Salary Report, professionals in these industries can count on competitive salaries, reflecting the growing demand for highly qualified staff. For example, Fullstack Developers can count on salaries of PLN 19,000 – 23,000 gross per month, Production Engineers on salaries of PLN 7,500 – 13,000 gross, and Logistics Managers on PLN 11,000 – 18,000 gross.
The data confirm that Wroclaw is an academic centre and a thriving business centre where specialists can find attractive career paths. Currently, in the city, we have many well-educated new employees coming from countries across Poland’s eastern border, which further strengthens the region’s attractiveness, emphasizes Joanna Wróbel, Team Leader Antal IT Services.
Lower Silesian capital of startups
The latest Antal and Akces NCBR study, “Acceleration Market in Poland,” sheds light on Wrocław’s investment potential, revealing that the city leads the country regarding the number of startups. The region is home to 28% of Polish startups, surpassing even Warsaw’s 19%.
This impressive result underscores Wrocław’s attractiveness to young, innovative companies, especially those operating in technology industries such as software, medtech, AI, hardware and deep tech. The state-of-the-art laboratories in Wroclaw, the advanced technological infrastructure and the close cooperation between business and academic centres create ideal conditions for developing R&D and knowledge process outsourcing, comments Anika Jabłońska, Senior Recruitment Consultant Antal IT Services.
The second-largest regional office market
In 2023, the Wrocław office market stood out as having one of the highest levels of activity among regional markets, both from tenants and developers. About 85,000 square meters of office space is currently under construction and will hit the market in the coming years. This demonstrates the continued interest in locating Wroclaw as a key business centre in the region.
Wroclaw maintains its position as Poland’s second-largest regional office market, offering attractive conditions for developers and companies looking for modern office space. Nevertheless, the market faces several challenges. Looking ahead to 2024 and 2025, we can expect a further decline in the supply of new office space, an increase in the prices of services, operating costs and utilities, as well as the high cost of financing new office investments with the simultaneous need to seek savings – both on the part of tenants and owners of office buildings, notes Marcin Siewierski, Associate, Regional Head, Western Poland Office Department, Cushman & Wakefield.
